Scholarship opportunity due January 11, 2010

The Chuck Urano Memorial Award, sponsored by the Colorado Farm Show, will be awarded to six deserving students who strive to leave a lasting impression on their community and the agriculture industry.

The Colorado Farm Show is proud to award six $2000.00 Scholarships, to help offset the increasing costs of attaining a Higher Education, to graduating High School Seniors declaring an Agricultural Major at a College or University of their choice.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Applicants must be graduating High School Seniors.

2. The Chuck Urano Memorial Award application, accessible in pdf format at www.ColoradoFarmShow.com, must be filled out by the applicant.

3. Applicants must be citizens of the United States and reside in Colorado.

4. Students must be pursuing a degree in an Agricultural related field of study at the accredited College or University of their choice.

5. A sealed, signed copy of the applicants Official High School Transcripts must accompany the scholarship application. Senior year classes must be listed if not included on transcripts.

6. One letter of recommendation from a High School official/teacher must be included with the application packet.
7. A one page essay outlining the applicant’s educational goals, chosen career plans, and any other information that the applicant considers pertinent must be included with the application.

8. Application must be legible (typed preferred) to be considered.

9. Complete application packet must be received in the Colorado Farm Show Office (received not post marked) by January 11, 2010.

10. Failure to submit a completed application, with all of the required materials in one packet, will eliminate your application.

CSU scholarship available to CSU students with alumni parents and grandparents

Whether you are a CSU Alumni yourself or know of students in your county that will/are attending CSU, please help share the word that the CSU Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship is available to CSU students whose parents or grandparents are CSU alumni.

Society for Range Management (SRM) Masonic-Range Science Scholarship

Information pulled straight from the state's 4-H blog:

This scholarship offers financial assistance and recognition to a high school senior, college freshman or college sophomore planning to major in/presently majoring in range science and/or a closely related field. The recipient of the scholarship must be planning to attend or be currently in attendance at a college or university with a range science program.

Applicants must be sponsored by a member of the Society for Range Management (SRM), the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), or the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS). The scholarship is awarded by the Masonic-Range Science Scholarship Committee (MasCom), which is a subcommittee of the SRM Student Activities Committee.

Applications are due Jan. 15, 2009 and must be postmarked by the deadline. The MasCom will select and announce the recipient(s) at the SRM annual meeting held in February.

Chuck Urano Memorial Scholarship applications available online

The Chuch Urano Memorial Award, sponsored by the Colorado Farm Show, will be awarded to six deserving students who strive to leave a lasting impression on their community and the agriculture industry.

The scholarships are awarded to high school graduating seniors who will declare an agricultural major at the college or university of their choice. Students who apply should be high school graduates in spring 2009 or winter 2008. All applications are required to be physically received by January 5, 2009 (RECEIVED NOT POST MARKED, NO EXCEPTIONS). Official high school transcripts are required and any application received without official sealed transcripts will be considered incomplete. The recipients of the awards will be notified in mid-January.

New Scholarship Opportunity for Douglas County 4-H'ers

Community service is such a big part of 4-H, and we've noticed that DC 4-H'ers show real commitment to our community through a variety of service projects. As a way to reward dedicated 4-H members, a wonderful new $1,000 scholarship has been created this year. The Douglas County 4-H Foundation, in cooperation with Young Farmer's and Homemakers, will be awarding this scholarship to applicants who have committed a significant amount of time and effort toward community service projects.
